Getting Started
-
Consultative care provides access to a professional, collaborative space where we strategize on important, relevant challenges for you or your family. It’s about problem-solving and optimizing communication and connections in real-time.
Therapy is a clinical intervention. It is a long-term process dedicated to psychological wellness, specifically focused on treating mental health conditions and healing from the past.
At this time, Dr. Leibowitz is offering consultative care services only.

Visit our Contact Page and fill out the brief pre-screener form to help us understand your individual needs. Potential clients may then receive an invitation for a 25-minute complimentary screening call to help determine next steps.
If you proceed to schedule an initial consultation, an electronic intake questionnaire will be sent prior to the appointment. This is a guided opportunity for you to reflect on you and your family’s timeline, and pinpoint exactly where you need the most clarity.

All clinical consultative services and non-provider education series are virtual. Provider trainings can be virtual or in-person.
For consultation services, clients must reside and have access to a secure and private virtual environment within US states where Dr. Leibowitz is licensed.
Education series and provider trainings are accessible in all US states.
-
Currently, Dr. Leibowitz works exclusively with adults, parents, and caregivers as primary clients. However, when ongoing consultative family support is provided, Dr. Leibowitz may recommend including children and adolescents in the process. This only happens after a discussion is held with parents and caregivers and everyone agrees.
-
While Dr. Leibowitz’s practice is primarily dedicated to supporting individuals, parents, and families navigating gender and sexuality, his consultative model is built to address the full spectrum of mental and relational health.
-
While Dr. Leibowitz is a board-certified child and adolescent psychiatrist, his practice focuses exclusively on consultative and therapeutic support rather than medication management.
For clients currently working with a prescribing physician or therapy-provider, he can potentially coordinate care and provide his specialized perspective to your existing team as needed.
Fees & Financials
-
If you are interested in pursuing services, please submit an inquiry. Eligible clients will be offered a 25-minute complimentary screening call, during which fee structure will be discussed.
-
Services are cash pay only at this time.
Superbills can be provided in specific occasions which will be discussed during the consultation.
-
Staying cash pay-only ensures that your care is dictated by your needs exclusively. A cash pay service allows us to customize the specific and individualized needs of the client in an ever-changing societal landscape.
-
Dr. Leibowitz maintains a limited number of reduced-fee slots for ongoing care to ensure that his gender support services remain accessible to clients who have significant financial stressors. This can be discussed with Dr. Leibowitz during the initial consultation.
-
We ask for 48 hours’ notice to cancel or reschedule. Late cancellations or missed appointments are billed at the regular session rate. During extenuating circumstances, Dr. Leibowitz may discuss a reduced cancellation fee if it occurs within the 48-hour window of the appointment.
The Consultative Process
-
Initial consultations can be 1-3 hours long, depending on your specific needs. During your 25-minute complimentary screening call, Dr. Leibowitz will help determine how much time is appropriate for an initial consultation.
Typically, a 1 or 1.5-hour consultation is appropriate for 1-2 individuals and/or those who have more focused needs. A 2 or 3-hour consultation is typically suited for 2-3 individuals and/or those with more complex needs.
-
Ongoing support is tailored to the specific needs of each parent, client, and family. After our initial consultation, Dr. Leibowitz will recommend a meeting frequency that aligns with the discussed objectives.
-
To accommodate busy schedules, Dr. Leibowitz offers a select number of evening and weekend sessions. These high-demand times are available on a rotating, first-come, first-served basis. To ensure all families have equitable access to these hours, we are unable to offer them as permanent or exclusive standing appointments.
-
The practice does not offer gender affirming hormone, puberty blocker, and/or surgical treatments.
The practice can still serve as a vital resource for families seeking consultation and support regardless of access to medical and surgical care.
For adults seeking these treatments, Dr. Leibowitz takes a holistic approach to care and works with clients over time to appreciate the individual factors impacting their decisions.
-
Due to current laws, we are not able to provide or coordinate referrals for medical care in certain US states. If this is the focus of seeking treatment, please bring this up in your inquiry.
Education & Training
-
Consultative Care provides access to a professional, collaborative space where we strategize on important, relevant challenges for you or your family. It’s about problem-solving and optimizing communication and connections in real-time.
The Gender Education Series is a deep-dive, seminar-style learning experience for groups of parents and/or other non-providers. These 2-3 hour sessions are designed to build a foundation of facts in an “ask anything” environment. These sessions focus on specific topics and contemporary understanding, rather than providing individual recommendations for specific participants.
-
Many families find these services work best in tandem.
You might start with the Gender Education Series to get your questions answered on selected topics and build a preliminary knowledge base alongside other parents.
From there, if you reside in one of the eligible US states where Dr. Leibowitz is licensed, you may choose to transition into consultative care for more private, focused work on your specific parenting and/or family's specific intergenerational needs.
Who we are
-
As an accomplished pianist since childhood, in his spare time Dr. Leibowitz is known to tackle a Chopin Etude, so this one is easy; he would be a piano! He always aims to provide the structure and the keys needed to help a family find their own rhythm again.
-
We are firmly team Animal-Loving! While Dr. Leibowitz’s lifelong cat allergy makes him "Team Dog" in person, the virtual nature of this practice allows him to appreciate both. We value the unconditional loyalty of dogs and the patient curiosity of cats.
We encourage non-distracting pets of all types to join our sessions if their presence helps you feel more comfortable and focused!
-
This is an easy one! Dr. Leibowitz would be a travel planner. Whether it’s for a relaxing time in a tropical climate or an adventure in a new country and culture, he loves the planning process and never misses out on the details. To him, both travel planning and consultative care are about the same thing; helping people get where they want to go with clarity and curiosity.
